In our first major update of 2022, we’ve released significant under-the-hood optimisations alongside customer-facing improvements. We rebuilt our core location engine, which we’ve branded SLATE — Spotto Location and Telemetry Engine.

Multi-site support

The primary feature in this release enables detection of asset beacons as they move between related accounts. The interface displays orange directional arrows indicating whether items are away from the home site or detected by a related Spotto account.

This will be tremendously powerful for organisations whose assets move between sites and historically have had issues recovering the assets in a timely manner. The update supports our mission of reducing unnecessary asset replacements while improving asset management.

The system distinguishes between two scenarios:

  • When an asset visits from another account, an inbound arrow appears with the asset owner’s name
  • When one of your assets is detected by another account, an outbound icon displays with that account’s name

Improved asset location accuracy

The update enhances the accuracy of asset locations throughout the platform. We continued tuning how the system processes Bluetooth beacon signals to provide users with an even more reliable source of truth.

Cleaner asset history

Asset histories previously appeared noisy due to signal crossover. SLATE improves this record, offering a cleaner, more scannable movement history.
