That’s pretty much the gist of TLC’s Extreme Couponing show. Apparently this show has been on the air since 2011, but this is the first time I’d seen or heard of it. I just watched two episodes, and seriously, I don’t even know what to say. One couple left with over $500 worth of groceries paying only sales tax on it, and another paid around six dollars for over $600 worth of groceries.
Not sure if one would call that an obsession, or being more tight fisted with money than Mr. Krabs from the Spongebob cartoon, but it’s brilliant. If you have the time to do the research on the stores coupon policies, collect, organize and print coupons etc.
If you’ve ever watched the show Doomsday Preppers, the stocked up store rooms are the exact same. Full of enough supplies to last months, almost like miniature grocery stores. I must watch more, it’s like a car crash, just can’t look away.
And right now, I’m feeling a little guilty for walking out of our local grocery store with materials to make dinner, knowing that I paid more for my few items than they did for several carts full. Amazing. Simple amazing.
